BA (Hons)

All undergraduate Arts courses at UK universities lead to a Bachelor of Arts degree. Students can choose between a BA and a BA (Hons). The standard BA, known as an “Ordinary” BA, is worth 300 credits and typically lacks a final-year project or dissertation.

In contrast, the BA (Hons) requires over 360 credits, including a significant project or dissertation in the final year. Upon successful completion of the Honours course, students may add “Honours” to their degree. An Ordinary degree, awarded for low pass marks, does not grant this designation.
